Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to support specimen collection, patient registration, and accurate processing within our laboratory operations. The role emphasizes venipuncture, proper labeling, order entry in HIS/LIS, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure specimen integrity and reliable results.

The position requires a high school diploma, completion of a phlebotomy course, and preferred phlebotomy certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy course; prior phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
• Register patients and input demographic/insurance data in HIS/LIS.
• Release orders and assist with specimen labeling and tracking.
• Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling and labeling.
• Adhere to safety and infection control procedures at all times.
• Communicate results and coordinate with care teams as needed.
