Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Phlebotomist to provide compassionate patient care through accurate blood collection, specimen handling, and processing across hospital laboratories. You will work with the HIS/LIS systems to register patients, track samples, and ensure chain-of-custody.

This role requires adherence to safety, infection control, and best practices; you may perform waived testing, collect samples at client sites or in departments, and support education and training for staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Phlebotomy training or certification is preferred.
• Experience with HIS/LIS systems for patient registration and sample tracking.
• Ability to follow safety and infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens with correct labeling.
• Register patients, collect payments, and enter demographic data.
• Use HIS/LIS to release orders and manage sample flow.
• Adhere to safety protocols and infection control practices.
• Perform waived testing and assist with QA/QC activities.
• Provide patient instruction and education as needed.
