Job summary

UMMA Health is seeking a Mobile Optometry Program Coordinator in California to manage patient access, scheduling, and front-office operations for the Mobile Optometry Program. This role partners with schools, clinics, families, and the Optometry Assistant to ensure smooth service delivery in educational and community settings.

The position requires strong organizational skills, pediatric outreach experience, and the ability to drive the mobile unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One+ years in healthcare front-office, patient access, scheduling or medical registration preferred.
• Experience with pediatric populations, schools or ambulatory care preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
• Willingness to operate a mobile optometry vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient scheduling and registration for mobile services.
• Serve as onsite liaison with schools and administrators.
• Manage patient flow, registration, waiting areas and scheduling at mobile sites.
• Communicate with patients and families about appointments and follow-ups.
• Assist with insurance collection and demographic information as needed.
• Track eyeglass orders and coordination of follow-up after exams.
• Maintain accurate rosters and outreach for missed appointments.
