Job summary

Colorado School of Mines seeks staff support for the METAL Mobile Manufacturing (MMM) unit to design, deploy, and continuously improve training across 11 Western states. Responsibilities include equipment configuration, safety documentation, and coordinating bootcamp sessions through 2028 with strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires planning, data collection, and execution of the Level 1 curriculum, along with travel to sites and collaboration with IACMI.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering.
• Knowledge of metal forming and metallurgy of iron, aluminum, and copper is essential.
• Experience with metallography and mechanical testing is required.
• Ability to plan, organize, and report on progress for project tasks and milestones.
• Ability to learn, follow, and deliver METAL Level 1 Bootcamp lessons.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and procure MMM equipment and configure it in a 53-foot trailer.
• Deliver METAL Level 1 Bootcamps across the Western USA, 1–3 times per month.
• Develop safety and compliance documentation and ensure OSHA and safety requirements.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly reports to IACMI and track KPIs; manage inventories.
• Analyze MMM project tasks and implement continuous improvement actions.
• Support public communications, industry engagement, and Train-the-Trainer activities.

Education

BS Degree in Metallurgical Engineering

MS Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field
