Job summary

Colorado School of Mines invites applications for a project staff role to support the METAL Mobile Manufacturing (MMM) unit. Responsibilities include design, deployment, and continuous improvement of training modules and safety systems across the Western United States.

The role requires a BS in Metallurgical Engineering with hands-on metallography and mechanical testing skills, plus ability to manage schedules, deliver bootcamps, and report progress. Travel and safety training are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Metallurgical Engineering required.
• Knowledge of metal forming and alloy metallurgy essential.
• Metallography and mechanical testing skills required.
• Ability to plan, organize, and report progress for tasks and milestones.
• Willingness to learn METAL Level 1 Bootcamp lessons.

Responsibilities

• Design Mobile Metal Training Unit and equipment configuration; safety plans.
• Deliver METAL Level 1 Bootcamps across the Western USA; 1–3 per month.
• Develop safety, lockout/tagout, PPE, and inspection procedures; ensure OSHA compliance.
• Prepare deployment and operations plans; manage event logistics and site checklists.
• Track KPIs, complete reports to IACMI, and support program improvements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned; support outreach and training activities.
