Job summary

Kansas City, Kansas Public Library is seeking a Mobile Services Manager to lead planning, operations, and growth of the Mobile Services Department in Wyandotte County. The role oversees mobile and outreach services, drives partnerships, and ensures alignment with the library’s mission and strategic plan.

Qualified candidates have MLS degree or are enrolled, at least three years in library leadership, and ability to obtain a Class B CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• MLS degree or current enrollment in MLS with anticipated completion within one year of hire.
• Minimum of three years of progressive library experience, including supervisory or management responsibility.
• Must obtain a Class B CDL with passenger, airbrake, and school bus endorsements within 6 months of hire.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Strong knowledge of library services, outreach, and mobile/inclusive service delivery.
• Ability to analyze data and implement process improvements.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in library technology, integrated library systems, and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee daily operations of the Mobile Services Department (mobile, delivery-based, off-site, outreach).
• Supervise, train, and evaluate staff; manage scheduling and professional development.
• Set priorities and provide direction for programs, outreach and services.
• Develop strategic vision and procedures for mobile services in line with the library's mission.
• Lead development and expansion of Mobile Services and partnerships.
• Manage department budget, purchasing, and resource allocation.
