Job summary

Transwest Mobile Truck & Trailer is seeking an experienced mobile field service technician to diagnose, repair, and overhaul heavy equipment on-site at customer locations across the Southwest. You will work with diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems, including CAN bus and ECM diagnostics, using OEM guidelines and your own diagnostic tools.

The role requires 5–10+ years of relevant experience, a complete professional toolkit, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs in varied outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5–10+ years in heavy equipment, diesel, or hydraulic system service.
• Mastery of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems; comfort with CAN bus and ECM diagnostics.
• A complete professional tool set appropriate for mobile repair.
• Organized, self-directed, and calm under pressure in the field.
• Valid driver’s license and able to operate a company vehicle (mobile role).
• Ability to pass background checks.
• Capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working indoors and outdoors.
• Preferred: Multiple ASE certifications (T2–T8) or Master Diesel Technician.

Responsibilities

• Run advanced diagnostics on heavy-duty diesel platforms, hydraulics, and complex electrical systems (including CAN bus and ECM) — plus medium- and light-duty units.
• Execute engine overhauls, component rebuilds, and intricate mechanical repairs with accuracy and speed.
• Leverage OEM service information and sophisticated diagnostic tools to identify root cause quickly.
• Coach and guide junior technicians, raising the bar on technique, safety, and teamwork.
• Engage directly with customers, explaining findings and recommending next steps with clarity.
• Document work thoroughly and maintain detailed service records.
• Champion process improvements and uphold safety and performance standards on every job.
