Job summary

Brooklyn Community Services is seeking a Mobile Outreach Navigator/Technician to operate and maintain the shower bus, HIV testing RV, and company van. The role involves transporting vehicles, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and providing outreach related to HIV, Hepatitis C, and substance use prevention for unhoused individuals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience in operating and maintaining vehicles, preferably in social services/outreach.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with unhoused individuals and service providers.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Flexible hours; travel to different locations as needed.
• Excellent English written and verbal skills.
• Knowledge of HIV, Hepatitis C, and substance use issues and how to connect people with services.
• Bi-lingual Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver program services to clients from high-risk populations while adhering to funder and regulatory requirements and BCs policies.
• Safely drive the shower bus, HIV testing RV, and company van to designated locations.
• Regularly clean and maintain all vehicles to ensure hygiene and good working condition.
• Set up and manage services provided by the vehicles, including showers and HIV testing.
• Provide crowd control during community events and ensure safety and confidentiality.
• Maintain records of vehicle usage, maintenance schedules, and service reports.
• escort clients to appointments as needed and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Attend team and departmental meetings and complete annual training hours.
• Develop linkage with local health and social service organizations.
• Follow funders’ safety guidelines for handling biohazard waste and dispose of medical waste.
• Prepare, stock, and inventory syringes and related supplies for outreach.
• Distribute high-risk prevention supplies (condoms, safer hygiene kits, sterile syringes).
• Assist in stocking mobile outreach vehicles and participate in community events.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
