Job summary

Basin Electric Power Cooperative is seeking a skilled Journey-level Heavy Equipment Mechanic to repair and service heavy equipment, trucks, tractors, and mobile generators at our North Dakota facility. You will maintain oil, fuel inventory, and assist in shop operations while ensuring safety and efficiency in daily tasks.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, testing, and training colleagues in proper servicing methods, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Two-year vocational or technical program in heavy equipment maintenance with 5 years of journeyman experience or equivalent.
• High school diploma or GED/HSED with 7 years of experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy mobile equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting diesel/gasoline engines, hydraulics, powertrains, electrical systems, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Repair and service heavy equipment, trucks, mowers, and plant vehicles; maintain records.
• Troubleshoot and test after repairs to ensure sound operating condition.
• Safely rig for lifting equipment components and perform maintenance.
• Train fellow workers in servicing and maintenance techniques.
• Perform cutting and welding on mobile equipment.
• Perform cleaning duties without hindering operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
