Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools seeks an Itinerant EL Instructional Assistant to assist with interpretation, translation, instruction, and educational support for students who are not proficient in English. You will work under the Principal/EL Coordinator to reinforce classroom instruction and provide targeted support.

The role requires collaboration with teachers, strong communication with students and parents, and the ability to use technology to manage data and reports.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication with students, parents and others.
• Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
• Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.
• Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
• Assists teachers with instruction and facilitates learning opportunities for K-12 English language learners.
• Provides instruction to students as prescribed by the EL Resource Teacher and reinforces skills introduced by the classroom teacher.
• Assists teachers in checking and evaluating students’ work; works with students individually and in small groups reinforcing skills based on instructional guidelines.
