Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our fleet customers in the Hickory, NC area. You will perform on-site maintenance and respond to service calls at client locations, ensuring rapid, quality repairs for heavy-duty trucks and equipment.

The role requires 5 years of Class 7/8 experience, a mechanic’s aptitude, and the ability to diagnose and repair diesel systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMVSS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, ASE certifications are preferred and rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Perform basic maintenance of trucks including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness and ensuring inspections are performed and documented.
• Manage inventory on service truck and keep vehicle stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and receive daily duties.
• Be available for after-hours service calls and flexible with schedule.
• Maintain and inventory tools for diesel engines and associated equipment.
• Read job orders and diagnose vehicle issues to plan procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment and technical data to perform repairs.
• Diagnose, remove and replace injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, bearings, oil pans, brakes, batteries, transmissions, and other parts.
• Perform diagnostic and documentation functions on the company system.
• Inspect guards, bolts, safety devices and make adjustments as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify conformance to specifications.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Document and enter work performed into mobile service program.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customers on repairs or services for the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
