Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support on-site client locations and maintain fleets with tenured certification. You will handle diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs across heavy-duty trucks, ensuring quality service and timely documentation.

You will manage inventory on the service truck, be available for after-hours calls, and maintain safety standards while delivering exceptional customer relations and training adherence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are a must.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance on trucks including fuel, oil, cleanliness, and required inspections documented as assigned.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned duties daily.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Read job orders and diagnose vehicle operation to plan work procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment to determine malfunction and perform repairs.
• Diagnose, remove, and replace components such as injectors, pistons, bearings, and other parts.
• Perform diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
• Ensure safety devices and guards are intact and adjusted as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify repairs meet specs.
• Document work performed in the mobile service program accurately and timely.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customers of repairs to be performed within the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
