Job summary

Rush Enterprises, Inc is seeking a Mobile Diesel Mechanic in Charlotte, NC to maintain fleets and handle on-site service calls for customers. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel trucks, following manuals and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years' experience as Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Must have a current CDL and Medical Card; valid driver license with insurability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck, including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and required inspections.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and keep vehicle stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and follow daily assigned duties.
• Be available for after-hours service calls and flexible schedules.
• Maintain and inventory tools for diesel engine trucks and related equipment.
• Read job orders, diagnose malfunctions, and plan work procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment and manuals to perform repairs.
• Replace injectors, pistons, bearings, gears, brakes, and transmissions as needed.
• Document diagnostic results and repairs in the company system.
• Inspect guards, bolts, safety devices; adjust as required.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify conformance with specs.
• Perform preventive maintenance as requested.
• Complete paperwork accurately and timely; update mobile service program.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customers on repairs to be completed within 3 months.
