Job summary

Penske is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to diagnose, overhaul, and repair refrigeration units on commercial trucks and trailers. The role emphasizes testing lines and components with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic tools, reading schematics, and ensuring safety and quality in every repair.

Qualifications

• 6 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational/Technical or certification preferred.
• Specialized training and experience in the overhaul of refrigeration components required.
• ASE Certification preferred.
• 608/609 certifications preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade required.
• Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook required.
• Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment is required.
• Must understand and comply with Penske safety and maintenance policies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, overhaul, adjust and repair refrigeration units for commercial trucks and trailers.
• Test lines, components and connections using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
• Read complex schematics for refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
• Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety protocols.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and confirm proper operation.
• Use hand and power tools to perform tasks and repairs.
• Provide support for preventative maintenance and tractor-trailer maintenance as required by location management.
• Inspect dimensions and clearances to ensure conformance with factory specs.
• Perform additional assigned tasks from supervisor.
