Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing Co., L.P. is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair refrigeration systems on commercial trucks and trailers.

The role focuses on Carrier/Thermo King equipment with responsibilities including testing, schematics reading, and ensuring repairs meet factory specifications. The position requires extensive maintenance experience, CDL with air brake preferred, and DOT/OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• 6 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Vocational/Technical or certification preferred
• Specialized training and experience in the overhaul of refrigeration components required
• ASE Certification preferred
• 608/609 certifications preferred
• Proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade required
• Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required
• Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment required
• Comply with DOT, OSHA and Penske safety policies

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair refrigeration units for commercial trucks and trailers
• Test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic test equipment
• Read complex schematics for refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
• Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders
• Maintain clean and safe work area
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or verify operation
• Use hand and power tools including screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, gauges, pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks/hoists
• Provide support for preventative maintenance and tractor-trailer maintenance as required by location management
• Inspect dimensions and clearances of parts to meet factory specs
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Shift differential 2.50 for 2nd shift/weekends
