Job summary

Rush Truck Centers in Springfield, IL is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our customers by maintaining fleets and handling service calls on site. This role requires 5+ years as a Class 7/8 technician, strong mechanical aptitude, and a CDL is preferred. We offer competitive pay from $25 to $40 per hour, benefits, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card required by FMVSS.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, and ASE certs are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Perform basic maintenance on the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and required inspections.
• Manage service truck inventory and tools.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
• Be available for after-hours service calls and flexible schedule.
• Read job orders and diagnose vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic equipment.
• Perform repairs such as injector/engine component replacements as needed.
• Document work in the company computer system.
• Check safety devices and guards and perform adjustments.
• Foster positive customer relations and advise on upcoming repairs.
