Job summary

HCRS is seeking Mobile Crisis Peer Support Advocates to respond to crisis requests in the community and virtually, as part of a two-person team with an assessing provider on the urgent care team.

Shifts are 24/7, including evenings and weekends. Peer support is included to inform the team with lived experience, and services will be provided in diverse settings with possibilities for virtual support.

Qualifications

• Commitment to mutual support, community, justice, and choice.
• Lived experience of marginalization and/or trauma enabling connection with people in crisis.
• Personal or professional experience supporting people in crisis.
• Experience in peer support, harm reduction, community organizing, or related work.
• Familiarity with psychiatric survivor, mad pride, neurodivergent, harm reduction, or disability justice movements.

Responsibilities

• Respond to mobile crisis requests as part of a two-person team to support relief from distress.
• Identify and access needed resources for community members.
• Maintain awareness of the environment and safety around individuals in crisis.
• Explain rights and ensure voluntary crisis services are understood.
• Participate in regular team debriefs to improve skills and approaches.
• Make follow-up connections to check in and plan future navigation.
• Provide phone support to crisis line callers seeking emotional support.
• Support mutual networks and community connections where relevant.
• Document services using collaborative documentation when possible.
• Attend regular meetings with the broader peer support team.
• Assist with peer support tasks outside mobile crisis when possible.
