Transitions Mental Health Association is seeking a Part‑Time Peer Support Specialist to join the Mobile Crisis Team in San Luis Obispo. The role leverages lived experience to provide recovery‑oriented support in community crisis settings, working with crisis staff to connect individuals to services.

The position requires current CA Medi-Cal Peer Support certification or the ability to obtain it, plus strong interpersonal skills and trauma‑informed practice.

Qualifications

• Current California Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification or ability to obtain within TMHA timeframes.
• Proven ability to provide trauma-informed, recovery‑oriented peer support in crisis settings.
• Strong communication and collaboration with diverse partners including families and emergency responders.

Responsibilities

• Respond to behavioral health crises as part of Mobile Crisis Team in community settings.
• Provide empathetic, recovery‑oriented peer support to reduce distress and support dignity.
• Collaborate with Crisis Specialists to gather information and plan safety measures.
• Assist with safety planning and connecting individuals to behavioral health resources.
• Maintain non‑clinical documentation accurately while safeguarding confidentiality.
