Transitions Mental Health Association seeks a Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist to join our community response team in San Luis Obispo County. You will use lived experience to support individuals in crisis, collaborate with crisis staff, and help connect people to behavioral health services.

You will receive specialized Mobile Crisis training, engage in ongoing skill development, and contribute to trauma-informed care within a nonprofit setting that values diversity and recovery.

Qualificações

• Current California Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification, or ability to obtain certification within TMHA timeframe.
• Personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges, recovery, or behavioral health services, with the ability to use that experience appropriately in a professional peer role.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate communication, support coordination of care, and work collaboratively with behavioral health providers, emergency responders, community partners, families, and other systems within the peer role.
• Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style and strong oral, written, and communication skills.
• Well defined organizational and time management skills. Ability to learn and use required electronic documentation, communication, and tracking systems.
• Ability to work independently and flexibly

Responsabilidades

• Responds in the community as part of the Mobile Crisis Team, providing peer support.
• Uses listening, empathy and lived experience to reduce distress and build trust.
• Collaborate with Crisis Specialists to engage individuals and identify immediate needs.
• Assist with safety planning and connection to resources.
• Support families and coordinate with community partners as appropriate.
• Explain next steps and transitions to appropriate treatment and services.
• Complete non-clinical documentation accurately and maintain confidentiality.
• Assist with transportation and drive Mobile Crisis program vehicles as assigned.
• Participate in supervision, meetings, training and professional development.
• Promote trauma‑informed and culturally responsive practices in all services.
