Job summary

UW Medicine in Seattle is hiring a Generalist MLS Trainee/1 for the Montlake Core Laboratory. The role covers automated and manual testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, coagulation, and urinalysis, with a focus on validation, troubleshooting, and data verification in LIS and middleware.

The MLS Trainee/1 will perform quality control, instrument maintenance, and QA procedures, while training new staff and ensuring timely, accurate patient results.

Qualifications

• Accredited bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent education/experience.
• Eligible to take MLS certification within 18 months of hire.
• One year of MLS trainee experience or equivalent exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor automation systems including SLAs and LIS interfaces.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance per SOPs across sections.
• Conduct manual testing and differential counts as needed.
• Troubleshoot instrument and middleware issues and escalate appropriately.
• Train students and new staff in routine bench procedures.
