Job summary

UW Medicine’s DLMP in Seattle seeks a Generalist MLS Trainee/1 for the Montlake Core Laboratory. The role focuses on operating and optimizing automated analyzers, validating data in LIS, and ensuring timely, accurate patient results.

You will support chemistry, microbiology, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis operations. The position involves working with automated workflows, manual testing, QA/QC, and training new staff.

Qualifications

• Accredited bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent education/experience.
• Eligible to take the ASCP certification within 18 months from date of hire.
• One year of MLS Trainee experience may count toward MLS 1 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor Total Laboratory Automation systems and analyzers.
• Perform manual testing including urinalysis, hematology, and other sections per SOPs.
• Conduct quality control and quality assurance across bench procedures.
• Train new employees and students in routine MLS tasks.
• Troubleshoot automation track and LIS/middleware issues with leadership.
