Job summary

University of Washington’s UW Medicine DLMP in Seattle is seeking an MLS Trainee/1 Generalist to work in the Montlake Core Laboratory. The role operates automated Total Laboratory Automation and manual workflows across Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis to ensure accurate, timely patient results.

The position requires an accredited Bachelor’s in MLS (or equivalent) and eligibility for ASCP certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Accredited bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science OR equivalent education/experience.
• Eligible to take the ASCP certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor Total Laboratory Automation systems and automated analyzers.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance per SOPs.
• Troubleshoot automation track and LIS/middleware interface issues with IT/ vendors.
• Train new staff and students in bench procedures.
• Maintain and replenish reagents; document utilization.
