Job summary

UW Medicine in Seattle is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Trainee/1 for the Immunology Laboratory at the Renton Central Laboratory. The 30-hour, 75% FTE role involves performing a range of immunology tests, operating automated analyzers, conducting manual assays and entering results into the LIS.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science and is eligible for ASCP MLS certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Accredited bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent education/experience.
• Eligible to take ASCP MLS certification within 18 months from date of hire.
• Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical lab tests in immunology using automated analyzers and manual assays.
• Enter patient data and results into LIS; notify results as needed.
• Maintain instruments, run QC, and troubleshoot issues.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and staff training.
