The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible for direct leadership of technical associates and may include pre-analytic supervision as determined by site. Performs all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory. Provides a high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to testing and clinical relevance. Functions in a self-directed manner, and exhibits effective communication and advanced problem solving skills.

· Responsible for operational management of the clinical laboratory, including direct leadership of technical associates.
· Responsible for staff scheduling and monitoring of workflow.
· Responsible for the coordination and completion of training of new associates and students. Responsible for ensuring staff competency assessments are met and completed. Ensures that staff meets all safety, compliance and regulatory standards. Responsible for associate selection, hiring, training, performance
appraisals, recognition, coaching, and corrective action. Investigates and resolves occurrence reports.
· Responsible for, or has oversight of, compiling various reports and resolution of issues. Actively involved in inspections and follow up. Maintains clinical skills and competencies to assist on bench as needed. Demonstrated knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA or other process improvement tools. Participates in quality improvement projects. May be required to participate in or lead laboratory and/or hospital projects, teams, or committees. Attends department, laboratory, and hospital meetings and forums.
· Responsible for review of QC, maintenance, calibrations, validations, reagent verification, downtime metrics, and other department documentation. Ensures AMRs and correlations are completed per schedule. Assists with coordination of implementation and validation of new analyzers. Ensures that proficiency testing is assigned, tested, and submitted.
· Coordinates and completes proficiency testing investigation follow up. Reviews various laboratory reports including critical values, revised reports, TNP reports, QM reports and others as assigned. Works with technical specialists to ensure compliance and standardization within lab areas. Acts a liaison between technical specialist and technical associates.
· Monitors quality metrics and processes to meet goals. Facilitates investigation, follow up and retraining with associates as needed.
· Maintains a safe and clean working environment. Follows laboratory, hospital, and regulatory agencies policies, procedures, and guidelines. Performs all levels of testing within the assigned discipline with a high level of competency. Performs job duties in an efficient and organized manner within required time frame. Utilizes critical thinking skills to correlate and interpret data.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed
· Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or equivalent
· 3+ years of experience of MLS, MT or MLT work experience in the clinical laboratory
· MLS with ASCP certification, or MT/MLT with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification, or specialty ASCP certification in the assigned department
