Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a skilled Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for Marcum & Wallace Hospital. The MLS will perform routine tests on blood, tissues, and specimens, delivering accurate results while ensuring patient safety and data anonymity.

The role requires a BS in a CLIA-approved program and MLS certification (or eligibility). Externship experience is preferred. Mercy Health offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry (CLIA approved program).
• MLS Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner per procedures.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection or recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
• Performs quality control on all testing and ensures results are accurate before release.
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment through equipment checks and proper handling of specimens.
• Other duties as assigned.
