Job summary

UW Medicine in Renton, WA seeks a Health Services Manager for the Microbiology Laboratory to lead daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure quality and regulatory compliance. The role oversees automated and manual testing, molecular diagnostics, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will manage budgets, coordinate training, and implement technology upgrades to enhance diagnostic accuracy and laboratory efficiency within a leading academic health system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• MLS certification from ASCP or equivalent.
• At least six years in clinical lab tech roles with 3+ in leadership.
• Experience with QA/QC, CAP proficiency testing, and accreditation guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Microbiology Laboratory.
• Lead staff recruitment, training, and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with federal and Washington State regulations and accreditation.
• Collaborate on LIS and analytics to improve workflows and data management.
• Manage budgets, staffing, and process improvement initiatives.
