Job summary

The ECU Health Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to perform clinical laboratory tests according to SOPs, with emphasis on quality control, calibrations, and result analysis. You will prepare specimens, monitor results, and communicate findings to care teams, entering data into the LIS system.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in CLS/Medical Technology or related sciences, with further credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry is acceptable.
• For non-CLS/MT degrees, one year of clinical lab experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient specimens for testing and perform tests in the department.
• Monitor test results to assure quality and validity.
• Communicate test results in a timely manner and enter data into the laboratory information system (LIS).
• Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and work area.
• Demonstrate respectful behavior toward patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Work alternate shifts as required.
• Perform other duties including phlebotomy as assigned.
