Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Laboratory, evenings (M-F, 14:30–23:00). This 24-hour-per-week position is a 0.6 FTE role with weekend shifts and no on-call duties.

The candidate will perform technical procedures, document results in the LIS, and promptly communicate critical values. Responsibilities include QA oversight and collaboration with staff to ensure accurate laboratory data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related science field.
• Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP.
• 1–3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Organizational and communication skills.
• OSHA training completed.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical procedures accurately following department policies.
• Enters results into the laboratory information system.
• Communicates critical values within 10 minutes of test completion.
• Evaluates results for technical accuracy of tests.
• Assists oversee of technologists and maintains QA programs.
