Job summary

Advanced Facility Solutions in San Jose, CA seeks a Lead Water Mitigation Technician to run jobs from first contact to final dry-out and lead a small crew. You will make on-site technical decisions, document for insurance, and ensure customers feel cared for during stressful times.

Responsibilities include coordinating with adjusters, setting drying plans, and supervising safe work practices. Some after-hours on-call work is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on water mitigation or restoration experience
• IICRC WRT certification required; ASD preferred
• Comfortable with moisture meters, thermal imaging, and documentation apps

Responsibilities

• Lead emergency response calls, including after-hours and weekend on-call rotation.
• Assess water damage, identify source and category, and set up a drying plan.
• Extract standing water and remove damaged materials (drywall, flooring, insulation, baseboards).
• Place and monitor drying equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers) and adjust as needed.
• Take and log daily moisture readings, photos, and notes using moisture meters and job software.
• Supervise, train, and assign work to technicians on site; model safe work practices.
• Explain the process to homeowners and property managers, and set clear expectations.
• Coordinate with adjusters, project managers, and reconstruction teams.

Lead Water Mitigation Technician

Location: San Jose, CA | Type: Full-time | Pay: $22-$28hour, depending on experience, plus overtime and on-call pay

The Role

As Lead Water Mitigation Technician, you'll run job sites from first call to final dry-out. You'll lead a small crew, make the on-site technical calls, document everything for insurance, and make sure every customer feels taken care of during a stressful time.

What You'll Do

• Lead emergency response calls, including after-hours and weekend on-call rotation


• Assess water damage, identify the source and category/class of water, and set up a drying plan


• Extract standing water and remove damaged materials (drywall, flooring, insulation, baseboards)


• Place and monitor drying equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers) and adjust as needed


• Take and log daily moisture readings, photos, and notes using moisture meters, thermal cameras, and job software (e.g., Encircle / DocuSketch / Xactimate / ServiceTitan)


• Supervise, train, and assign work to technicians on site; model safe work practices


• Explain the process to homeowners and property managers, and set clear expectations


• Coordinate with adjusters, project managers, and reconstruction teams


• Maintain the work vehicle, equipment, and inventory in good, clean working order


• Follow safety, PPE, and containment protocols, including for Category 3 (black) water and mold

What You Bring

• 2+ years of hands-on water mitigation or restoration experience, with some crew leadership


• IICRC WRT (Water Damage Restoration Technician) certification required; ASD (Applied Structural Drying) preferred


• Comfortable with moisture meters, thermal imaging, and documentation apps


• Calm, professional communication with customers in stressful situations


• Valid driver's license and clean driving record


• Able to lift 50+ lbs, work in crawlspaces and attics, and handle physically demanding conditions


• Available for on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice to Have

• IICRC AMRT (mold), FSRT (fire/smoke), or OCT (odor) certifications


• Xactimate / Service Titan experience


• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
