RTX in McKinney, Texas, is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Mission Systems Engineering Team. You will apply systems thinking to design real-time embedded software for defense applications.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 2+ years of experience in C++ on Linux or VxWorks, with a track record in system-of-systems integration and design reviews.

US citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance are required; travel up to 5% may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM and minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing real-time software in C++ or similar and Linux/VxWorks.
• Product-domain experience in RF/EO/IR sensors or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems thinking to software challenges including CONOPS and architecture.
• Design, develop, and refine interfaces for hardware and software.
• Develop Software Requirements Specifications (SRS).
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on design exploration.
• Architect, implement, test, and debug embedded real-time software.
• Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Mentor less experienced engineers.
• Occasional travel up to 5%.
