Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mission Systems Engineer to lead the requirements, verification, and interface definition efforts for the ground and mission operations architecture of civil deep space missions.

You will collaborate with spacecraft, mission operations, and ground software teams to ensure real-time and store-and-forward operations meet mission objectives, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and interoperability.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in ground systems, spacecraft operations, or requirements engineering.
• Experience implementing CCSDS communications protocols and standards.
• Experience across the full system lifecycle: definition, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, qualification, operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and maintain mission systems requirements with traceability and verification/validation.
• Define ground element and ICD interfaces including user- and payload-facing interfaces.
• Collaborate with flight vehicle, ground software, mission operations, and customer teams.
• Define ground system and mission operations architectures for real-time and store-and-forward operations.
• Plan product updates, integration, testing, and validation leading to operations readiness.
• Conduct testing of ground system functionality and measure performance against requirements.
• Perform flight software to ground system integration and testing.
• Analyze operability across space-ground system and improve as needed.
• Ensure mission system requirements align with NASA and interoperability standards (e.g., CCSDS).
