Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mission Systems Engineer to define and mature the mission system for deep-space operations. You will lead requirements, verification, validation, and interfaces across ground and flight teams to ensure mission objectives are met amid long delays and complex operations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in a technical field (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics).
• 5+ years in ground systems architecture, spacecraft operations, or requirements validation.
• Experience with CCSDS protocols and space-ground interfaces.
• Experience across the full system lifecycle: requirements through operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative in fast-paced settings.
• Familiarity with DOORS NG, ICDs, and cloud software deployments.

Responsibilities

• Derive, maintain, and verify mission system requirements to meet objectives.
• Define ground element interfaces and ICDs, including user-facing interfaces.
• Collaborate across flight, ground software, operations, and customer teams.
• Design ground system and mission operations architectures for real-time and store-and-forward operations.
• Lead test, integration, and validation activities and conduct readiness exercises.
• Ensure alignment with NASA and interoperability standards (e.g., CCSDS).
