Job summary

Blue Origin in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Mission Systems Engineer to define and mature the mission system and its ground operations for MTN relay services. You will guide requirements, verification, and interface definitions across spacecraft and ground teams to meet mission objectives amid long delays and deep-space conditions.

The role emphasizes collaboration, rigorous testing, and adherence to NASA standards, with a focus on safety and reliability for civil space missions.

Qualifications

• B.S. in a technical field and 5+ years in space systems or related areas.
• CCSDS communications protocols and standards experience.
• End-to-end lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, integration, and ops.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
• Commitment to inclusion and trust within the team.

Responsibilities

• Identify and derive mission systems requirements with traceability and validation.
• Define ground element interfaces and ICDs, including user-facing interfaces.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across flight, ground software, and ops.
• Define architectures for real-time and store‑and‑forward operations.
• Plan product update cycles, integration, testing, and training events.
• Test ground system functionality and measure against requirements.
• Integrate flight software with ground systems and perform testing.
• Analyze operability across space-ground systems and improve where needed.
• Ensure alignment with NASA/CCSDS interoperability standards.
