Job summary

KBR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for TACOM (WVA) on a contingent contract at a military installation. The role covers planning, design, and management of facility mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and utilities, with emphasis on reliability and mission readiness.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, familiarity with ASHRAE/NFPA/IBC codes, and experience in project oversight. Candidates must be eligible for a U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with mechanical systems design, construction, operation and modernization.
• Knowledge of codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and IBC/Mechanical Code requirements.
• Experience managing or supporting engineering and construction projects including planning, budgeting, scheduling, QA, and contractor oversight.
• Proficiency with engineering/design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and manage mechanical engineering projects supporting facility infrastructure, industrial operations, and mission requirements.
• Develop and review mechanical system designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, and cost estimates for projects.
• Serve as project manager for assigned mechanical projects, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and execution.
• Conduct engineering studies, facility assessments, and system evaluations to identify deficiencies and propose solutions.
• Provide technical oversight of mechanical construction, maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities for compliance with design and safety standards.
• Inspect and evaluate HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, utility distribution, and industrial systems for reliability and readiness.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, maintenance personnel, and regulators to support planning and execution.
• Review contractor submittals, technical docs, drawings, and design changes for compliance with requirements.
• Investigate and resolve complex mechanical issues affecting facility operations and energy efficiency.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff during long-range infrastructure planning.
