Job summary

La Casa de Maria, managed by the Southern California Retreat Foundation (SOCARE), seeks an experienced General Manager to lead operational revitalization of the Montecito retreat center. You will oversee guest services, dining, housekeeping, facilities, and calendar programming, guiding a phased return to full operations while upholding the mission of renewal and service.

The role requires building a mission-aligned team, ensuring safety and guest satisfaction, and collaborating with the board

Qualifications

8+ years of senior leadership experience in hospitality, retreat, or nonprofit operations.
Experience standing up or significantly scaling operations.
Familiarity with retreat management platforms and standard tools such as Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and Slack.
Understanding of the Southern California retreat and nonprofit landscape.
Experience managing facilities undergoing renovation, restoration, or phased activation.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day operations of the retreat center across guest services, housekeeping, dining, facilities maintenance, grounds, and administration.
Stand up operational systems, workflows, and standards as facilities come back online through phased revitalization.
Ensure property, facilities, accommodations, and grounds meet safety, cleanliness, and presentation standards.
Oversee compliance with laws, regulations, health codes, and land-use entitlements.
