Job summary

Suffolk is seeking a proactive Field Engineer for our data center and mission-critical projects in Houston. You will maintain and distribute construction documents, verify field dimensions, and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure plans and grades are met, while tracking progress against the contract documents.

On-site you will lead safety programs, prepare daily reports, participate in planning sessions, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
• 2+ years of experience in mission critical/data center construction

Responsibilities

• Maintain and distribute construction documents to the project team (Plans, Specifications, RFIs, Bulletins, Field Reports)
• Manage layout and verify field dimensions for accuracy
• Verify subcontractor layout aligns with established line and grade
• Administer Suffolk’s Quality Management Program; document deficiencies and track to resolution
• Monitor job progress on-site to ensure compliance with Contract Documents
• Document daily activity with reports, photos, and sketches
• Create and distribute daily/weekly work plans and logistics
• Attend meetings with customers/clients and provide status updates
• Compile permits, testing, and inspections for project completion
• Assist in Suffolk Safety Program administration
• Supervise and mentor Field Engineers
• Communicate clear safety expectations to project teams
