Job summary

Shawmut Design and Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Manager for Mission Critical projects in the United States. The role leads multiple projects through the preconstruction phase, coordinating feasibility studies, budgets, and design-to-bid processes, while maintaining client relationships.

Applicants should have 5+ years in construction pre-construction estimating and 3+ years in mission critical preconstruction, with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction pre-construction estimating or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in preconstruction within the Mission Critical Sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent.
• Extensive knowledge of trades, scope, and MEP systems; bid and budget leadership experience.
• Timberline experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects through the preconstruction phase and build client relationships.
• Captain budget and hard bid efforts, guiding project teams of 3–12.
• Plan the job before turnover, including general conditions, procurement schedule, and logistics.
• Own the preconstruction process to ensure timely, quality proposal deliverables.
• Generate subcontractor bid lists with operations and procurement; manage buyout.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for bid verification and budgeting.
• Develop project strategy understanding and apply it to estimating.
