Shawmut Design and Construction, a 100% employee-owned company with multiple Best Place to Work recognitions, seeks a Preconstruction Manager - Mission Critical in the Boston area. Lead feasibility studies, budgets, and bids from design to buyout, coordinating with clients and Shawmut’s operations team.

The role emphasizes ownership of the preconstruction process, delivering high-quality proposals, and guiding 3–12 member bid teams while upholding Shawmut’s White Glove standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in pre-construction estimating for commercial construction.
• 3+ years of experience in preconstruction within the Mission Critical sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Vast knowledge of all trades, scope, time frames, and MEP systems.
• Experience leading bid and budget teams on several projects.
• Timberline (Precision Estimating) experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects through the preconstruction phase and manage client relationships.
• Captain budget and hard bid efforts, leading project teams of 3–12.
• Plan the job with operations, including general conditions, procurement schedule, and logistics.
• Own the preconstruction process and ensure timely, quality proposal deliverables.
• Generate subcontractor bid lists with operations, procurement, and leadership.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop budget estimates.
• Present information to clients and safeguard Shawmut quality standards.
