The role you’ll contribute:
The Mission Control Intake Coordinator person is knowledgeable of all aspects of the patient's admission and transfer process. Serves at hospital liaison for patient and family in the absence of the patient placement coordinator. Supports Mission Control Supervisor in throughput activities for system to ensure timely and efficient placement. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
• Ensures proper identification of each patient using previously assigned MRN, name, social security number, etc. Enters information given by physician and assigns an MRN with incomplete data when the need for an immediate number is indicated. Accurately codes diagnosis or admitting complaint using current ICD coding manuals as required.
• Reviews and processes admission and transfer requests in a timely and proficient manner. Responsible for obtaining face sheets and transfer agreements on all patients transferring from other facilities.
• Ensures that admitted patients have contracted insurance, if not, ensures the proper departments are notified.
• Manages the inbound requests utilizing all appropriate software systems and resources.
• Assists Patient Placement Coordinators in monitoring red beds and alerting appropriate campus leadership.
• Collects and compiles statistical data as requested.
• Answers calls in que timely while clearly identifying self and name of department at all times; returns calls prior to shift ending.
• Supports system Registration, Care Management and Our Legacy & Transplant account needs including, but not limited to GIP, Hospice, Our Legacy and Transplant account creation.
• Supports system HIM MRN duplicate merging needs.
• Supports system HIM and ED legal needs by scanning Behavioral Health Legal Status documents into the EMR.
• Proficient utilizing imaging software to ensure all images for transferring patients are available in AH imaging
software. Troubleshoots imaging failures with appropriate imaging leadership.
• Responsible for placing call-outs to physicians regarding admissions. Follows departmental guidelines and algorithms for follow-up and escalations as needed.
• Serves as a resource for system Registration troubleshooting needs.
• Assists in training/mentoring new employees, attends staff meetings, and maintains current knowledge of operational processes. Reviews electronic communications to keep abreast of process and departmental changes.
• Supports Mission Control Departmental functions and needs.
• Customer Service: Delivers excellent customer service fulfilling the Advent Health Mission of extending the healing Ministry of Christ. Pleasant tone of voice, friendly and helpful attitude, keeps conversation focused on customer. Handles calls and issues promptly and efficiently.. Identifies opportunities for improvement and expansion of new customer relationships.
• Teamwork: Is respectful of co-workers and offers assistance as needed to help others complete assigned tasks. Participates in activities that promote camaraderie and a friendly workplace. Willingly and enthusiastically participates in team/department initiatives. Readily voices concerns and problems to Leadership.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED:
• Excellent verbal communication and written skills
• Advanced Computer Skills
• Utilizes all electronic foundational resources and tools to efficiently maintain throughput across AdventHealth and sending facilities.
• Accurately documents details of demographics and transfer process, real-time, in software systems to ensure department STATS and AdventHealth regulatory compliance are met.
• Understanding of Health Insurance Authorization processes
• Critical-thinking and problem-solving ability
• Ability to function in fast-paced, stressful environment
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
• Knowledge of HIM processes
• Knowledge of Registration process
• Medical terminology and/or coding skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Grad or Equiv
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
• High School Diploma or GED
• College education or coursework in healthcare related field
• Healthcare Financial Services experience
