Job summary

Mountain Cement Company is seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to help bring a state-of-the-art cement plant to life in Wyoming. You will oversee daily mining operations, plan short- and long-term mine activities, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a BS in Mining Engineering with surface mining experience and supervisory background; AutoCAD and ArcGIS skills are preferred, along with strong Microsoft Office proficiency.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mining Engineering; surface mining experience and supervisory/management history.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; ArcGIS preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project); preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily mining operations to ensure production shifts and maintenance work align toward mine objectives.
  • Plan short- and long-term mine planning and permitting.
  • Oversee mine survey activities and update mine maps monthly.
  • Manage monthly AutoCAD mapping and ensure MSHA compliance.
  • Coordinate environmental requirements as they relate to the mine and plant.

Overview:

The Mine Coordinator/Engineer will provide daily oversight as necessary and technical support to ensure mine production requirements are met, in the short and long term, efficiently, safely, and within MSHA requirements. They are responsible for supervision, meeting mine production, planning quality, budgetary plans, and safety objectives. Basic qualifications and/or traits that the Mining Engineer must possess include:

  • The ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Use of Microsoft documents, information, data, presentation software (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for effective coordination of daily mining operations to ensure multiple production shifts and maintenance activities are working synergistically towards common mine objectives.
  • Responsible for short term and long term mine planning and permitting.
  • Oversee mine survey activities and update mine maps monthly.
  • Responsible for mine control and monthly AutoCAD mapping.
  • Responsible for mine drainage planning, measurement, and control.
  • Responsible for maintaining MSHA required evacuation plans, roadway berming, and maps.
  • Responsible for quarry highwall monitoring.
  • Support operations in ground control optimization.
  • Support operations to optimize mine production and maintenance practices.
  • Support and/or participate in the mine improvement groups, committees, mine safety program, and the overall company safety strategies, etc.
  • Coordinate with appropriate parties to plan, develop, and enact the remediation of overburden and other materials previously stored in the mine area.
  • Responsible for coordinating the environmental requirements as they relate to the mine and to the plant.
  • Responsible for monthly drone inventory measurements of plant and mine inventories of outside stockpiles.
  • Responsible for development and management of annual departmental budget, including managing/reducing operational and equipment costs.
  • Responsible for leading a strong, effective Safety culture within the mine department.
Education & Experience:
  • Requires a BS in Mining Engineering. Required
    Mining experience, particularly in surface mines, with a history of both engineering and supervisory/management experience. Preferred
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, preferably with experience using Arc GIS. Preferred
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project.Preferred
    Strong leadership skills: possess the ability to lead, manage and motivate; have a proven track record for creating employee ownership of safety, production, and quality. Preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Working 8-12 hours shifts.
  • Working in areas of heat, cold, muddy, icy, or dusty conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Subject to twisting, bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing.
  • Lifting 65+ lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
