Amrize is seeking a Mining Engineer I to support on-site mine planning, drilling and blasting activities, and regulatory documentation at the Hagerstown Cement Plant. You will work with a team to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

• Bachelor's degree in mining or related field.
• 0–3 years of work experience in mining or related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
• On-site work environment and willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Surveying and mapping surface mine features and progress.
• Short and mid-term mine planning with Geologic Services team.
• Track mining royalties and regulatory documentation (MSHA/ATF).
• Assist in blasting optimization, cost, and fragmentation analysis.
• Ensure ground support and safety procedures are followed.
• Assist in managing crew and field design work for projects.
• Contribute to cost analyses for special projects.
• Monitor mining conditions for continuous improvement.
• Support safety training and recordkeeping.
• Assist with new site development and greenfield work.

About The Role

The Mine Engineer is an on-site engineering support role. The Mine Engineer assists mine management in ensuring that operations are run in a safe manner, in compliance with all governmental requirements, and in the most efficient and effective way possible. The Mine Engineer is generally responsible for mine planning, support in drill and blasting, and special projects as they arise, and federal and state regulatory documentation. The Mine Engineer may collaborate with a team of engineers to help optimize other local mining operations.

What You'll Accomplish

• Surveying and mapping of surface mine advance and all appropriate mine features
• Short and mid-term mine planning in conjunction with the Geologic Services team
• Tracking of mining royalties
• Blasting optimization – cost, fragmentation analysis, production impacts, etc.
• Updating required MSHA and ATF documentation
• Ensuring appropriate ground support is implemented
• Assisting in managing the crew, as required
• Completing design work and cost analyses for special projects, as required
• Observing and tracking mining conditions and practices for continuous improvement
• Assisting with safety training and recordkeeping
• Assisting with green fielding and other new site development
• Providing technical assistance for mine management, as required

• Other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

Education: Bachelor's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Mining

Required Work Experience: 0-3 years

Required Technical Skills: Good computer skills, with proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel

Travel Requirements: Minimal

• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
