Job summary

MacKay seeks a senior Civil Project Manager to lead civil and geotechnical mining projects across the Southwestern United States. You will manage scope, budget, and schedules while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 10+ years in civil/geotechnical engineering, PE in NM/AZ (or ability to obtain within a year), and strong client-relations skills. It is a hybrid position based in Albuquerque or Phoenix with 20% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in NM or AZ, or the ability to obtain one within a year of employment
• 10+ years of experience in civil and geotechnical engineering, mining sector experience preferred
• Experience with earthworks, foundations, mine waste, tailings, heap leach pads, water management
• Strong project management, leadership, and client relationship skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in civil engineering design software and methodologies

Responsibilities

• Act as lead engineer for civil and geotechnical components of mining infrastructure projects, with accountability for technical quality, safety, and compliance
• Plan, guide design, and manage active and closure mining projects
• Prepare and manage project scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables
• Participate in detailed design and permitting processes
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, models, and methods
• Communicate with clients, identify opportunities, and position the firm for future work
• Supervise technical staff to deliver projects
• Direct field activities including investigation, monitoring, and testing services
• Write and review technical reports
• Assist with business development to cultivate client relationships
