Job summary

MacKay seeks a Civil Project Manager for its Mining team. The role requires leading civil/geotechnical work on mining infrastructure, with about 20% travel.

Hybrid work is available from Albuquerque or Phoenix offices, with growth opportunities in expanding mining practice in the Southwest. Ideal candidates have a PE in NM/AZ, 10+ years in civil/geotechnical mining projects, and strong leadership, communication, and client relations skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in NM or AZ or ability to obtain within a year.
• 10+ years in civil/geotechnical engineering, mining sector preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead engineer for civil and geotechnical components of mining infrastructure projects with technical quality, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Plan, provide design guidance, and manage active and closure mining projects.
• Prepare and manage scope, budget, schedule and deliverables.
• Participate in detailed design and permitting processes.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, models and methods.
• Communicate with clients to win future work and ensure project success.
• Supervise technical staff to deliver projects.
• Direct field activities, including investigation, monitoring and testing on site.
• Write and review technical reports.
• Assist with business development and client relationships.
