Job summary

The Simplot Company seeks a Mine Surveyor to establish and maintain survey control for mining operations at the ABW Mine – Vernal. You will load field data from GPS equipment, build projects, and prepare maps and documents related to surveys.

Responsibilities include conducting surveys, maintaining equipment, and ensuring supplies are available; requires ability to operate vehicles and hold a valid driver’s license. A Drone Pilot License is required and FAA exam can be completed post-hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Five years of mining experience is preferred.
• GPS machine control systems experience (Carlson CAD, CAT Terrain) is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret maps and mine engineering plans.
• Ability to follow instructions and work with others.

Responsibilities

• Download field data from GPS equipment to computer.
• Build projects, manage files, and troubleshoot GPS systems.
• Prepare data, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
• Conduct survey operations to provide timely and accurate survey of daily operations.
• Clean and maintain equipment and vehicles; operate as needed.
• Maintain valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles used for surveys.
• Assist in ensuring necessary supplies are available for survey work.
