Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks an experienced operations supervisor for on-site leadership at our Colorado facilities, including Leadville region mining operations. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and staff development in a high-altitude environment.

You will oversee planning, staffing, budgeting, and day-to-day problem resolution, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and company standards across a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and five years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a mining-related discipline with at least one internship in mining or industrial environment, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required.
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
• Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
• Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate and control the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit.
• Assign, supervise, and review the work of staff for the unit.
• Implement production plans according to approved schedule.
• Participate in the full range of daily operational duties.
• Inspect and evaluate work in progress, identify problem areas and direct remedial action.
• Conduct performance evaluations on subordinate staff.
• Prepare estimates of staffing, materials, and equipment for projected activities.
• Maintain inventory of parts and materials; approve purchases and maintain reports.
• Train staff in safety procedures and maintain safety data sheets.
