Job summary

Canfor seeks a Millwright for our Deridder, LA sawmill. You will maintain pumps, conveyors, compressors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems, performing preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance to maximize uptime.

You will troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, work with a high-performance team, and uphold safe work practices on a rotational schedule that may include weekends. Experience in manufacturing, CMMS usage, basic electrical knowledge, and strong communication will help you succeed.

Qualifications

• Superior troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment would be considered a plus.
• Basic electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair machinery components.
• Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on heavy manufacturing machinery.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively to schedule and document maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all mill machinery including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings, and hydraulic/pneumatic components.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance to keep systems running smoothly.
• Troubleshoot issues, improve equipment reliability and implement safe, reliable fixes to maximize uptime.
• Identify and request parts needed to complete repairs in a timely manner.
• Support a safe work environment and collaborate with operations, production staff, and supervisors.
