Plain Dealing Lumber seeks a skilled Millwright to maintain and repair sawmill and planer equipment, including conveyors, saws, motors, and gearboxes. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and address breakdowns to minimize downtime.

You will read blueprints, interpret manuals, and use welding and fabrication skills to repair and modify parts. Join a safety‑conscious team in a busy plant, with rotating shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining industrial equipment.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and manuals; basic welding and fabrication skills.
• Follow lockout/tagout and safety procedures; be flexible with shifts and on-call repairs.
• Experience with sawmills or heavy manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, align, maintain, and repair machinery including conveyors, saws, and gearboxes.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventive maintenance and component replacement.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems and bearings.
• Read blueprints and manuals to support installation and repair work.
• Fabricate or modify parts using hand and power tools; welding and cutting as needed.
• Align and balance rotating equipment using precision tools.
• Respond to breakdowns quickly to restore production.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and parts usage.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Manager and production team to minimize disruption.
• Identify and maintain inventory of critical parts.
• Follow PPE usage and safety protocols at all times.
• Share technical knowledge with less experienced team members.
