Job summary

Wood is seeking a Millwright to join our team in Port Lavaca, Texas. This role requires the ability to read schematics, interpret blueprints and install equipment with precision.

Candidates must lift up to 50 pounds, work long shifts in varying conditions, and operate with strict safety standards. The responsibilities include dismantling, moving, assembling and aligning machines, installing robots, and performing routine maintenance.

Qualifications

• Lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds.
• Sufficient strength and stamina to perform technical duties.
• Ability to move in and around confined and uneven areas.
• Full range of motion consistent with age.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts in varying temperature extremes and conditions.
• Occasionally may work up to 16 hours in a single shift.
• Climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel frameworks.
• Adequate hearing to respond to voice commands and alarms.
• Visual acuity and depth perception suitable for heights and uneven surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and installs equipment using cranes, hand tools and power tools.
• Constructs foundations for machines using basic building materials.
• Aligns machines using hoists, jacks, levels and micrometers.
• Knowledge of optical and laser alignments is required.
• Assembles machines and bolts or welds to foundations or structures.
• May operate engine lathe to grind and shape parts.
• May install robot and modify its program using teach pendant.
• Uses transit and level for equipment setting.
• Loads, transports and unloads materials and supplies.
• Performs lubrication, maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Observes safety and project rules; performs other duties as required.
• Uses clear verbal and written communication; coordinates with supervision and employees.
• Maintains motivation and works safely and productively.
• Understands and responds to safety alerts and hazards.

Job description

Wood is currently sourcing for a Millwright to join our team in Port Lavaca, Texas. U.S. Only: Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads and interprets blueprints, layout plans, vendor installation and operation manuals, and other schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantles machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools.
• Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks.
• Assembles and installs equipment, such as shaffing, conveyors and tram rails, using cranes, hand tools and power tools.
• Constructs foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials, such as wood, cement and steel.
• Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs.
• Must have knowledge of optical and laser alignments.
• Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools.
• May operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
• May install robot and modify its program using teach pendant.
• May use transit and level for equipment setting.
• Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
• Performs lubricating maintenance, cleaning activities, or repair of tools, machines, and equipment.
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees.
• Be motivated and work safely and productively.
• Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

• May be required to lift and carry items weighing no more than 50 pounds.
• Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above.
• Must be able to move in and around confined and uneven areas.
• Must have full range of motion consistent with age.
• May be required consistently to work 12 hour shifts performing construction based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions.
• May be required, on occasion, to work up to 16 hours in a single shift.
• Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel framework.
• Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms, and other job related noises.
• Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces.
