Job summary

The Beasley Group is seeking an experienced Level 1 Millwright to support maintenance across our Hazlehurst sawmill. The role involves assisting with installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment to keep machinery operating safely and with minimal downtime.

You will work under senior millwrights and maintenance leadership, performing routine tasks, troubleshooting basic issues, and documenting work performed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of industrial equipment.
• Ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers).
• Basic welding and cutting knowledge preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Strong work ethics and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining and repairing sawmill machinery including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, chains, belts, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks assigned.
• Assist with equipment installations and machinery alignment.
• Replace bearings, shafts, sprockets, and other mechanical components.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues under supervision.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, and company policies.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns as directed.
• Document maintenance work performed.

Position Summary

Level 1 Millwright is an entry-level maintenance technician responsible for assisting with the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment throughout the sawmill.
