The role ensures finished material matches orders and standards, identifying defects and guiding rework as needed. The position requires attention to detail, ability to read orders/drawings, and proficiency with measuring tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in woodworking, moldings, millwork, cabinetry, lumber, or related QC roles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize defects in wood and finishes.
• Ability to read work orders, drawings, and customer specifications.
• Basic knowledge of wood species, grades, profiles, grain, moisture, and defects.
• Ability to use measuring/inspection tools accurately.
• Good communication and teamwork with production staff.

Responsibilities

• Inspect moldings, trim, and millwork for profile, dimensions, and quality.
• Verify finished material matches orders, tickets, drawings, and specs.
• Check for defects such as tear-out, chatter, burns, and finish inconsistencies.
• Use tape measures, calipers, gauges, and moisture meters to confirm accuracy.
• Report nonconforming material for rework, downgrade, or removal from production.
• Communicate quality concerns with machine operators and supervisors.
• Perform in-process and final inspections prior to packaging or shipping.
• Maintain inspection records with notes, photos, and defect trends.
• Assist root-cause analysis and suggest process improvements.
• Ensure packaging/labeling meets standards to prevent damage.
